HOLY CARD PRAYERS
You may choose any of the prayers or wordings listed below to print on the back of the Holy Card. Or you may provide your own. If it is in a language other than English, you must provide it.
Prayer #1: Come To Me
God saw you getting tired,
and a cure was not to be, so
He put his arms around you
and whispered,
“Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched
you, and saw you pass away,
and although we loved you
dearly, we could not
make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
to us, He only takes the best.
Prayer #2: Safely Home
I am in heaven, dear ones; oh, so happy and so bright!
There is a perfect joy and beauty in the everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
safely home in heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for
you, so you must not idly stand,
do it now, while life remaineth;
you shall rest in God’s own land.
When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home;
oh, the rapture of that meeting
oh, the joy to see you come!
Prayer #3: Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down
in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for His Name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest
my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the
House of the Lord forever. Amen.
Prayer #4: Eternal Light
Those we love must someday
pass beyond our present sight…
Must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle their lovely
light will surely shine to
brighten up another place
more perfect… more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven where they shine so warm and bright.
Our loved ones live forevermore in
God’s eternal light.
Prayer #5: Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred,let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness joy.
O Divine Master, grant that
I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that
we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that
we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Prayer #6: After Glow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down
the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
Prayer #7: Novena to St. Jude
Most holy apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the Church honors and invokes you universally, as
the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of.
Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use I implore
you of that particular privilege given to you,
to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.
Come to my assistance in this great need
that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities,
tribulations, and sufferings, particularly ~(request)~
and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever.
I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor,
to always honor you as my special and powerful patron,
and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.
Prayer #8: Walk In Sunshine
May you always walk in sunshine
and God’s love around you flow,
for the happiness you gave us,
no one will ever know, it broke
our hearts to lose you, but you
did not go alone, a part of us
went with you, the day
God called you home.
A million times we’ve needed you.
A million times we’ve cried.
If love could only have saved you.
You never would have died.
May the Lord be with you and
May you rest in peace. Amen.
Prayer #9: In Heaven
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today.
While thinking of the many things
We didn’t get to say,
I knew how much you loved me,
As much as I love you.
And each time you think of me,
I knew you would miss me too;
But, tomorrow starts without me.
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready
In heaven far above.
And that I would have to leave behind
All those that I dearly love.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right there in your heart.
Prayer #10: Footprints Prayer
One night I dreamed
I was walking along the beach
With the Lord.
Many scenes from my life
Flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed
Footprints In the Sand.
Sometimes there were
two sets of footprints,
other times there was only one.
“You promised me Lord,
That if I followed you,
You would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
The most trying periods of my life
There has only been one set
of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
Have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The years when you have seen
Only one set of footprints,
My child, is when I carried you.”
Prayer #11: Novena to St. Therese
O Little Therese of the Child Jesus,
Please pick a rose for me
From the heavenly gardens
And send it to me
As a message of love.
O little flower of Jesus,
Ask God today to grant the favors
I now place with confidence
In your hands.
(Mention specific request)
St. Therese,
help me to always believe,
As you did,
In God’s great love for me,
So that I might imitate your
“Little Way” each day. Amen.
Prayer #12: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you;
blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
Prayer #13: Remember Me
Fill not your hearts
with pain and sorrow
But remember me
in every tomorrow
Remember the joy,
the laughter, the smiles
I’ve only gone to rest a while
Although my leaving causes
pain and grief
My going has eased the hurt
and given relief
So dry your eyes and
remember me
Not as now, but as I used to be
I will always remember you
and reflect with a smile
Understand I’ve gone only to
rest awhile
As long as I have the love
of each of you
I will live life in the hearts
of all of you.
Prayer #14: Peace Be Thine
God looked around His garden
and found an empty place
He then looked down
upon the earth
and saw your tired face
He put His arms around you,
and lifted you to rest
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best
He knew you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain
He knew you would never
get well on this earth again
He saw the roads were getting rough and the hills were hard to climb
So He closed your weary eyelids,
and whispered “ peace be thine “
It broke my heart to lose you
but you didn’t go alone
For part of me went with you,
the day God called you home.
Prayer #15: Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Prayer #16: Merciful Father
Most merciful Father,
we commend Carolyn into your hands.
We are filled with the sure hope that
Carolyn will rise again on the Last Day
with all who have died in Christ.
We thank you for all the good things you have given Carolyn here on earth.
O Father, in your great mercy,
accept our prayer that the
Gates of Paradise may
be opened for your servant.
In our turn, may we too be comforted by the words of faith until we greet
Christ in glory and are united with You and Carolyn.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Prayer #17: Hold You Close
We hold you close
within our hearts
And there you shall remain
To walk with us through
out our lives

Prayer #18: The Miracle Prayer
Lord Jesus, I come before you, just as I am.
I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your name, I forgive
all others for what they have done against
me. I renounce satan, the evil spirits and
all their works. I give you my entire self,
Lord Jesus, now and forever.
I invite you into my life Jesus,
I accept you as my Lord, God and Saviour.
Heal me, change me, strengthen me
in body, soul and spirt.
Come Lord Jesus, cover me with your
precious blood, and fill me with your Holy Spirit.
I Love You Lord Jesus.
I Praise You Jesus. I Thank You Jesus.
I shall follow you every day of my life. Amen.

Prayer #19: May He Support Us
May He support us
all the day long,
till the shades lengthen
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed
and the fever of life is over
and our work is done.
Then in His mercy may He give us safe lodging,
holy rest and peace at last.
Prayer #20: Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me

Prayer #21: You Are Not Forgotten
You are not forgotten,
loved one
nor will you ever be,
as long as life
and memory last
we will remember thee.
We miss you now,
our hearts are sore.
As time goes by
we’ll miss you more.
Your loving smile,
your gentle face
no one can fill
your vacant place.
Prayer #22: Little I Knew
Little I knew that morning God
was going to call your name,
in life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone,
for part of me went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories
your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
Prayer #23: Journey’s Just Begun
Don’t think of her as gone away,
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrow and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort,
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched,
for nothing loved is ever lost,
and she was loved so much.
Prayer #24: Memorare
Remember, O most gracious
Virgin Mary, that never was it
known that any one fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or
sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this
confidence, I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen
Prayer #25: 1 Corinthians 13
Annette is patient, Annette is kind,
Annette does not envy, Annette is not jealous or boastful,
Annette is not arrogant or rude,
Annette does not insist on her own way,
Annette is not irritable or resentful,
Annette does not rejoice at wrong,
She rejoices in right.
Annette bears all things,
Believes all things,
Hopes all things,
Endures all things.
